25:11
Can you do a session, or part of a session, on break rooms: nuts & bolts? Thank you
Michal Downie LLL
34:10
can we do just an Audio file?
Kristen Kennedy
34:45
Can you give an example of a tag?
Mike Gill
35:35
Does Kaltura caption the videos?
Peggy
35:50
does it also give you the option to add a hyperlink in case someone cannot open the thumbnail embedded video?
Ping Zhang
36:24
Can it record your computer screen in addition to or in place of your face?
horose@syr.edu
36:43
Does it land in the same place every time, or can you put it in “announcements” or what have you?
loredanalanzani
39:03
Can I use Express capture to produce a video that alternates between showing my talking head, and my hand writing on an iPad connected to my desktop?
Svetla
40:27
Can we record using multiple cameras?
loredanalanzani
41:08
So, screen sharing/screen showing is not available on Express Capture? (Only on Kaltura capture?)
Kari
42:45
Do I have a single Kaltura in BB, or is there a separate one for each class?
Janet Brown
44:19
Michael, can you show us how to share your screen while you are talking and recoreing in Capture, or will it blow up
Rick Welsh
44:25
Can you elaborate on recording ahead of time then uploading to Kaltura?
loredanalanzani
45:42
Do Kaltura Capture/Express Capture allow for virtual backgrounds?
Janet Brown
45:50
Thanks anyway......urrff
loredanalanzani
46:29
What’s the advantage of producing video using Kaltura, vs. producing a Zoom video and then uploading it?
Ping Zhang
46:46
Sounds one cannot use Kaltura to record/stream while using Zoom for a live class session?
Michal Downie LLL
48:33
Do we have any editing tools?
Ulrich Englich
49:31
“Wonky” - is this a bandwidth thing? - I noticed when going out of BB Collaborate to show a powerpoint things got really slow and unresponsive
Samantha K Herrick
49:46
What sort of video file (when saving e.g. Power Point with audio)?
loredanalanzani
49:48
So: latest uploads show at the bottom (from earliest to latest)?
Janet Brown
50:51
It sounds like uploading a Zoom lecture where it is easier to show documents and narrate over is a much easier way to go than trying to narrate over a document in Kaltura.
Kari
52:02
Can I organize my Kaltura files? Can I create folders for my different courses?
Mike Gill
53:21
Does the captioning system also produce a text file that can be saved? Also, can you edit the captions for accuracy?
Janet Brown
57:23
If I want to have documents, HW assignments and the Kaltura video all with in a learning module, how to put the video in that content area?
Dianna Miller
57:56
Can students record video responses?
Eva
59:25
Are the transcripts only in English?
Laurel Willingham-McLain
01:01:28
How accurate is the capturing with varied accents of English?
Peggy
01:02:30
can I publish the same video in more than one component within Blackboard?
Gail V Hoffman
01:04:49
Can you upload videos to Kaltura so only students in each class have access?
Hong Zeng Martel
01:05:38
I am really worried about storage space with all these video recording/uploading
loredanalanzani
01:05:46
Can I use Zoom instead of Kaltura capture to embed video that has screen-sharing in it?
Martha
01:06:12
Blackboard has plenty of storage space for every faculty, so we don't have to worry.
Hong Zeng Martel
01:06:26
I ran out of space quota before
loredanalanzani
01:06:59
The reason why I ask is because I am very familiar with producing Zoom video that has screen sharing in it — would not have to learn how to do it on Kaltura Capture...
Martha
01:07:09
Yes, we noticed that several faculty did, so we asked for more space from BB and got it! If it happens again, please email help@syr.edu, as we can increase your allotment.
Kari
01:07:58
To import a BBCU video into Kaltura, do I first have to download it to my computer, or can I bring it in directly?
loredanalanzani
01:08:04
In other words: why is Kaltura Capture worth the trouble of learning this new tool, as opposed to just uploading pre-recorded Zoom videos?
Samantha K Herrick
01:08:27
How private / secure is that cloud storage?
Hong Zeng Martel
01:08:28
Okay :-)
Kari
01:09:06
How robust will this be for my students in China?
Nell Bartkowiak
01:09:54
Two questions... 1) Can students download videos from Kaltura if you want them to? 2) Have you experienced that students from countries with firewall can still access content hosted on Kaltura?
Samantha K Herrick
01:09:56
Can students download these video files?
Janet Brown
01:10:57
Can you show us how to upload a Zoom narrated pp film to a content area, without putting it in Kaltura first, or would you recommend doing it through Kaltura?
Michal Downie LLL
01:11:22
Can I download it also to my computer?
Dianna Miller
01:13:18
… so they can listen/watch lectures on their phone?
Martha
01:13:55
yes, Dianna.
Martha
01:14:01
They just have to have the app.
Dianna Miller
01:14:02
BB is terrible on phones (not responsive design) which is why I ask
Dianna Miller
01:14:25
Got it - they watch directly from the KMS app.
Kari
01:14:34
For my students with bandwidth issues: can they either stream or download, whichever works best for them?
Svetla
01:14:46
I just obtained the Kaltura app on my phone. It cannot find the address Syracuse.edu
Martha
01:15:10
Our system goes live tomorrow, so you cannot find it today. Just like me. :-0
Eva
01:15:15
Are the produced transcripts for a vedios on only on English
loredanalanzani
01:15:48
It’s still not clear to me why I should invest a considerable amount of my time and energy into learning Kaltura as opposed to just uploaing pre-recorded Zoom videos
Nell Bartkowiak
01:16:22
Do we have to manually upload Zoom recordings or is there other integration between Kaltura and Zoom?
Martha
01:17:04
Loredana, Kaltura may not be worth it for you depending on what you want to do in your course. You want to have your teaching drive your technology, not the other way around.
Jim Watts
01:17:29
Please answer the question about advantages of Kaltura over Zoom recordings?
Hong Zeng Martel
01:17:33
@Martha Could you paste this page link?
horose@syr.edu
01:18:11
^^^^please post!^^^^
Eva
01:18:34
ARABIC
Samantha K Herrick
01:18:34
Yes I’d also appreciate a Zoom / Kaltura answer
Dianna Miller
01:18:35
Have to duck out. Thank you Michael and Martha — I’m looking forward to using this!
horose@syr.edu
01:19:03

Janet Brown
01:20:59
Thanks, great news about automatic zoom storage in Kaltura.
Samantha K Herrick
01:21:25
Does putting Zoom recordings into Kaltura mean that they would stream but not be available to download?
Rick Welsh
01:22:30
Thank Michael and Martha. Gotta go.
Gail Hoffman
01:22:44
thank you!
Nell Bartkowiak
01:22:49
This has been very helpful. So excited - thanks!
Laurel Willingham-McLain
01:23:14
It seems to be very flexible and useful technology. Grateful!
Socorro Koseki
01:23:17
Thank you!
Shawn Loner
01:23:22
Thanks!
Janet Brown
01:23:22
Thanks. Sorry we seem to be crabby - just overwhelmed but this was great.
