La Casita will commemorate the start of Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month with the opening of a new exhibit: Heart of the Barrio (Corazón del Barrio), on September 18. The show will display photographs, videos, and objects from La Casita's archive collections, commemorating La Casita's 10th anniversary. The new exhibit will feature photos, videos, personal narratives, artwork, and memorabilia collected by La Casita over the past 10-years. Opening festivities will include a tour of the new exhibit, live guitar and violin duo performance by Liamna Pestana and Sara Silva; spoken word performance by artist Noel Quiñones, live salsa by Grupo Boricua, dance performance, and a succulent Caribbean menu. Admission to this event is free and open to the public.
